I'm asking everyone to help promote this show and if you are Norwegian, or know someone in Norway, please let them know!

Nikki Sudden died on the 26th of March this year. 49 years old. He was a good personal friend of mine who I have spent a lot of time with when I've been in Berlin over the last few years. I've played lead guitar with him on a couple of shows there and played a bit of guitar and sang backing vocals on a few tracks for his last album sessions as well (though not for songs that are on the album, but one of them he planned to release as the A-side of a single right after the album release)... see pictures of me & Nikki on nikkisudden.com from his birthday party at the Bellmann's Bar in Berlin a few years ago.

He left behind a lot of solo records, a lot of albums released with Dave Kusworth as the Jacobites + a few records with the now legendary Swell Maps where he started his career in the late 70's.

Nikki Sudden is one of the few people I have met who you can justify calling a "real artist." Still always a gentleman, friendly and more presice and good at keeping appointements than most. His passing came as a shock both to us who knew him and also to his many fans. His last record "The Truth Doesn't Matter," which is yet to be released, is the best solo album he ever did.

I wish to celebrate Nikki Sudden and am therefore setting up a memorial concert at Elm Street in Oslo, Norway, on Saturday the 10th of June.

I have put together a backing band, The Cavaliers, for the entire evening consisting of me and Frankie from the Trashcan Darlings on guitar, Ole from The Lochness Mouse on bass and Simen from the Mormones, Shit City and Cockroach Clan on drums. We're gonna back different Norwegian singers who will sing 1 song each.

Among those who wanted to contribute are Al DeLoner (ex Midnight Quire), Ivar Nicolaisen (Silver), Emil Nicolaisen (Serenah Manesh). Strange? Gentle (Trashcan Darlings), Burem Muller (Backstreet Girls), Tine (Cables), Mark Steiner, David Dajani (Pirate Love), Marilou (ex Umbrella) and of course Einar Stenseng (ex-Last Bandits... Nikki's band) +++

The night will end with a full set consiting of Nikki and Jacobites numbers performed by Nikki's longtime partner in crime Dave Kusworth. Backed by the Cavaliers.

Due to the amount of songs that will be performed this night, the concert will start a bit earlier than usual and I will strongly recommend everyone being there at 21:30, at the latest, to be sure they hear everything.

    CC NOK 100,-

My main goal with this, except for celebrating a songwriter who has been a huge inspiration to all those invloved, is of course to spread Nikki's music to new generations and people who might never have heard of Nikki Sudden at all if all these great singers hadn't wanted to participate this evening

Whatever you guys can do to help promote this is highly appreciated!

    That would be great, Carl!

I plan to post it as a bulletin there too. And to anyone here who runs a web zine or anything like that, please post the details there too.

I plan to have the whole evening filmed, but Elm Street is a difficult club to film in. We'll see how it turns out, but if it's good there might be a bootleg available sooner or later:-)

Chris, I'm now doing the news section on Glitzine so if you send me a cut down press release with dates etc, I'll add it to that section.

Can I post this as a "bulletin" though my My Space site?

You should try and record this in some form for those of us who would LOVE to be there, but can't possibly make it.

    Thanks Grant!

I'm as hungover as emergency stairs today, but will write a press release tomorrow or on Monday and mail it to you
